How to plan a wedding in Altea: a step-by-step guide
From the first “what if we got married here?” to the last dance: the steps we follow with every couple marrying in and around Altea.

1. Decide on the date and number of guests
These are the two decisions that shape everything else. In Altea the peak wedding season runs from May to October: if you want to marry in those months, start looking for a venue nine to twelve months ahead. September and October are especially popular for the light and the temperature.
You don't need a final guest list, but you do need a rough number: a 40-guest wedding at a villa is very different from a 150-guest one at an estate.
2. Choose the type of venue
Around Altea there are estates among olive and almond trees, villas overlooking the bay, restaurants and terraces. Before falling in love with a place, ask three things: whether it allows outside caterers, how late music can play and what indoor alternative there is if it rains or the wind picks up.
3. Set a realistic budget
Catering is usually the largest item, followed by the venue. Ask for itemised quotes: that way you can see what is included (staff, crockery, set-up, bar) and what isn't.
4. Book the key suppliers
Photography, music and flowers are the first to get booked up. A local wedding planner already knows the suppliers in the area and who works well at each venue, which saves a lot of visits and emails.
5. Tasting and running order
A few months before, you taste the menu and a minute-by-minute schedule is prepared for every supplier. That is also when plan B is decided: a marquee, an indoor space or a change of timing.
6. On the day: delegate
On the wedding day someone has to coordinate the set-up, suppliers and timings so all you have to do is enjoy it. That is exactly what we do at Bloom.
